I’ll start with a beautiful photo of our destination, taken yesterday morning at the entrance to our campground.
Headed off to Mt. St. Helens yesterday with great intentions of going up to windy ridge for a good look at the east side where the mountain blew out back in 1980 You can see it over my shoulder in the picture above. Unfortunately the road up to Windy Ride has been closed for repairs all summer due to slide last winter. We ended up driving around the perimeter of the park and it was okay. Got some great photos, and had a good time.
Wild flowers are abundant.
We drove along the Lewis River on the South Side of Mt. St. Helen, past two reservoirs behind hydro electric projects owned by PacfiCorp, an energy company which is part of Berkshire-Hathaway , owned by Warren Buffet. Swift Lake and Yale lake both have recreational facilities owned by the company and since we stopped and had lunch in Yale park, you might say we had lunch with Warren Buffet.
